Fear Not!
There are many who feel threatened by the world. Yet, Jesus spoke the words fear not to his people.
Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. (Luke 8:50)
Fear not therefore: you are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12:7)
Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. (Luke 2:10)
If you are in the world, you should be afraid. The world will do everything it can to devour you. If you are in Christ, what do you have to fear? Think about it: your belief makes you whole; you are of great value to the omnipotent God who delights to give you access into His kingdom. Believe the good news and live in the confidence of its reality.
What I have found to be a common theme with those who are threatened by the world is that the only thing greater than their fear of the world is their sense of superiority to the world. They fear the world at the same time believing they are superior to it.
Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)
Before the downfall the heart is haughty but humility comes before honor. (Proverbs 18:12)
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." (1 Peter 5:5b)
We need to humble ourselves. This is according to God’s plan for our life. A sense of superiority is sin in our life and will only and always lead to more sin in our life. All sin is unacceptable to God. Humble ourselves and do not surrender to the ways of the world in fear but surrender to God and His plan and purpose for our life in love.
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
