The value of a false god

False God’s only become valuable when they are bought.

We do not consider the time, effort and energy of the artisan who brought about the design.  We give no thought to the innovator who had the idea nor do we think of the engineer who made the parts function together in harmony.  We do not consider the creator because until we reach a purchase point, his creation has no value to our lives.

As soon as we make the purchase, we assign great value to the item that was sold to us.  We place our new found prized possession in special and high places.  We devote ourselves to them and make sacrifice for them.

We become blind to the fact that these items that we worship were merely made by the hands of man.  We easily forget that they are the same as they were before we ascribed them god like status in our lives.

They are made by all things we take for granted and by a creator that we easily ignore.  But they become our god the moment we opened our wallet and money changed hands.

"Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD."  Joshua 24:14
